We have always known that owners can look similar to their canine companions but new research has now demonstrated that cats may assimilate their carers’ behaviour and personality traits. After surveying people regarding their personalities, researchers were able to accurately predict their cats’ personality traits. Anxious people were more likely to have anxious cats whereas extroverted people are more likely to own outgoing cats. Further study is required to fully understand what impact on animal welfare this finding may have.
